Learn how to use an OLED display with a Raspberry Pi Pico in this updated tutorial - tormlsiyvbr - 18-08-2021

Allow us to show you how to get started with these fantastic displays on your computer.   We've updated this how-to to include sections on drawing shapes and objects to the display, converting bitmap images for OLED displays, and animating images on OLED displays, among other features.

Article from the beginning:

In terms of digital displays, the Raspberry Pi Pico has a plethora of options to choose from.   Displays such as LCD screens, VGA / DVI output, or custom screens such as the Pico Display or the IPS display on the Pico Explorer Base are all options for us.   However, there are times when a small, low-cost solution is required to complete the task.  .  It is trivial to work with small oled display screens, such as the 0.  96-inch model used in this tutorial, and they are inexpensive (a few dollars or pounds), making them ideal for projects.

As part of this tutorial, we'll learn how to connect an OLED screen to a Raspberry Pi Pico using the I2C interface, and then we'll install a MicroPython library using the Thonny editor and learn how to use it to write text to the OLED screen.

Interfacing the Raspberry Pi Pico with its OLED display is accomplished through the I2C protocol.   Thus, we only require what we need.

MicroPython on a Raspberry Pi Pico running on four jumper wires, one of which is female to female

a 128 x 64 I2C OLED display screen
Using a Raspberry Pi Pico, you can connect an small oled display

To begin, connect the GND of the screen to any other GND on the Pico (the black wire).
Connections to 3V3 on the Pico (Red wire): VDD / VCC, 3V3 on the Pico

3.   Connect SCK / SCL to I2C0 SCL (GP1, Physical pin 2, orange wire) using a jumper cable.   4.
GP0, Physical pin 1, Yellow wire) and SDA (GP0, Physical pin 1, Yellow wire) to I2C0 SDA
Connection to a computer and launch the Thonny application on your Raspberry Pi Pico.
We now need to install a library in order for Python to communicate with the screen after the hardware has been connected and Thonny has been opened.
Thonny's package manager for Python libraries can be accessed by selecting Tools > Manage Packages.
7.   In the search bar, type "ssd1306" and then click on "Search on PyPI.  "
